Multiplication of Measles Virus in Primary Chick Embryo Cells

Abstract
The experiment on the proliferation of measles virus in primary chick embryo cells showed the following results.
1. The 199 medium was proved to be the best maintenance medium and next Eagle¢¥s
medium. 30¡ÆC was the more optimal temperature for the maintenance of the cells than 36¡ÆC and the healthy condition of the cells were observed for 2-3 weeks under 30¡ÆC.
2. Passage of measles virus in chick embryo cells caused increase of its infectivity and the peak of infectivity was observed after the 9th passage. There has been no remarkable change, thereafter.
3. In determining the infectivity of measles virus in chick embryo cells, day 14 after the
inoculation was the most. suitable time.
4. The growth curve of measles virus in chick embryo cells at 30¡ÆC showed its peak 7 days after the virus inoculation.
